Most important question of class-12th (Chemistry)
Topic- Standard hydrogen electrode
(Question)–What is Standard hydrogen electrode? How is it prepared?
(Answer)–Standard hydrogen electrode–
Hydrogen gas at 25°c and one atmospheric pressure in contact of molar (Unit concentration) of hydrogen ions forms standard Hydrogen Electrode. It electrode potential assumed to be Zero.

Standard Hydrogen Electrode
(Method of preparation)
It is an apparatus shows in diagram.A rectangular platinum plate is taken which is coated with platinum p' black. This platinum plate is attached with a platinum wire kept in a glass tube Within the tube the wire is dipped in a small amount of mercury. Platinum plate is surrounded by a glass tube. Which has an inlet for hydrogen gas. Pure hydrogen gas is passed through this inlets at one atmospheric pressure. This electrode is kept in molar concentration of H+ions. In this way standard Hydrogen Electrode is formed.
